Prescription Drug Drop Off Box in Otis, MA at Police Department

The Otis Police Department now has a Prescription Drug Drop Off Box. The box has a mail slot so it can be used any time Otis Town Hall is open. The box itself is inside the Police Department.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 3 PM

The goals are:

  • Keep medications from entering waterways and contaminating surface waters -- ultimately affecting our drinking water.
  • Keep medications out of landfills
  • Prevent medications from getting into the wrong hands.
  • You can use it to drop off prescription, over-the-counter or veterinatary medications including
  • Expired medications
  • Drugs you no longer need
  • Place unwanted meds into the original bottle or a plastic baggie. NO SYRINGES PLEASE

The program is sponsored by District Attorney David Capeless' office at no cost to taxpayers. In 2013 DA Capeless received an award for "rounding up" over 1 million pounds of presecription drugs.
