About Us
The Department is responsible for:
- Fire protection service to the town, including putting out fires
- Emergency rescues, including cold water
- Emergency medical services through First Response and EMT services (coordinated with the Sandisfield Ambulance)
- Inspecting smoke detectors upon sale of a house
- Inspecting Fuel Oil burners and tanks when installed, removed, or modified in any way
- Monitor fuel tank installations and removals to assure conformance with environmental and safety laws
- Permitting and monitoring blasting sites
- Management of hazardous materials storage and spills
- Permitting storage and use of gun powder and pyrotechnics (including fire works)
The Tolland Volunteer Fire Department is a tax-exempt organization qualified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (3) c organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
