Board of Selectmen

Town of Tolland

MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING –  August 13, 2018 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:   Eric R. Munson, Jr. and Patrick Barrett

Also Present:      Wes Greene

                           Richard and Dorothy Toni

                           Brenda Richter

                           Jeff LaCasse

                           Ed Deming

Wes questioned why the town purchased a pickup truck with a “quad cab” and a 6’ bed. He feels that a “work truck” has no use for a “quad cab nor can a 6’ bed be utilized. Ed stated that the truck was purchased with the intent of being a “run around truck”. The truck will have a plow that will be used for when the driver comes upon a situation where they would need to push a small amount of snow. Also, if the DPW employees need to attend a meeting or training they all would be able to comfortable travel in the truck.

Ed asked Wes if he had concerns with the town or is they personal concerns with him. Wes stated his issues are not personal.

Dori and Richard Toni had concerns with a letter that they had received from Margaret, Treasurer regarding a check that had been returned from the town’s financial institution. Richard stated that he had written a check for $5.00 for his dog license in February and the town did not deposit his check until late June. And in early June he had closed out his account that the check was drawn on. He felt that he should not be responsible for paying any fees since the check had been held for such a long period of time. Margaret stated that a conversation was had with the Town Clerk in turning checks over for deposit. All checks written to the Town of Tolland are valid for 6 months and upon closing a checking account an individual has to be responsible in verifying that all checks have been accounted for before closing an account.

Jeff informed the board that he will be applying for an 2018 EMPG in the amount of $2,200.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Margaret McClellan
