Town of Tolland

MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING –  August 26, 2019 5:00 PM

Selectboard met with the Town of Sandisfield, Selectboard to discuss the Town of Tolland financially contributing to the Sandisfield ambulance. The ambulance has and does service the Town of Tolland. In a prior meeting with the Town of Sandisfield it had been stated that Tolland had not financially contributed to the ambulance. Steve informed the board that Tolland did contribute $5,000 annual towards the purchase of a new ambulance in 2006-2011 for a total of $45,000. Since that time Tolland and Sandisfield agreed that ambulance service payments would be split between two accounts, a replacement ambulance account and Sandisfield’s general fund. Receipting funds to the Sandisfields general fund is to offset the budgeting or “raising and appropriating” the expenses to services the ambulance. Steve also mentioned that since then the Town of Sandisfield has not asked Tolland to contribute. Sandisfield’s Selectboard was not aware of the $45,000.

Tolland requested that the Town of Sandisfield review the guidelines of an enterprise fund to track the receipts and expenditures of the ambulance. Tolland Selectboard agreed to have a Special Town Meeting to transfer money from FREE CASH to contribute $15,000 towards the ambulance. Both boards felt $15,000 was acceptable being half way through fiscal FY20 and not a planned budget item.

Board appointed Marcia Eveland to the cemetery committee.

Signed a contract for the “third party” inspection of the transfer station.

Voted to change hours of the transfer station to Sunday 3-7 all year Wednesday 5-7 and Saturday 9-12.
