Town of Tolland

MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING –  July 15, 2019 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:   Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Patrick Barrett                                                                                                                                       

Also Present:     Pat Storey,Ed Deming, David Spidal and Karen Spidal and Jim Richard                      

                           Comcast - Eileen Leahy, Senior Manager

Comcast wanted to take the opportunity to meet with the Board of Selectmen to introduce Comcast to Tolland.

Tolland residence will be offered TV, phone and internet packages that are available on Comcast website.

The time line for the build is 2 years. The “Make Ready” process will take approximately 6-9 months. To run the 30 miles of fiber for Tolland will take approximately 8 weeks. Tolland is responsible for the purchase and installation of telephones poles down Schoolhouse Road. If a line should come down on one of those poles Comcast will service the line but not replace or fix the pole.

Eileen will be drafting a 15 year franchise between MBI and The Town of Tolland. The board will request legal to review the franchise and schedule a special town meeting. Also, a pole agreement application will need to be signed between Comcast and the Town of Tolland.
