A SWAP SHED IS COMING TO THE TOLLAND TRANSFER STATION

In June of 2019 Tolland applied for a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Waste Prevention, Sustainable Materials Recovery Program to buy and set up a Swap Shed at the transfer station on Colebrook River Rd. On November 15 the Selectmen were advised that the Town has been awarded a grant of up to $6000 to purchase this shed. We hope to have the shed operational by May 1, 2020. The intent of this shed is to provide a location where residents who have a Transfer Station Permit Sticker to leave clean useable items there and other residents who can use these items can take them. Below is a list of acceptable and un acceptable items. With everyone working together the Shed can be a useful addition to the town’s services.

Open at all times the Transfer Station is Open

Operation Rules

All Residents must have a Transfer Station sticker to use the Swap Shed

All items must be in good working condition with no broken or missing pieces

The Transfer Station Attendant will have the final determination for the acceptability of items listed for both ACCEPTABLE and NONACCEPTABLE categories
