Concert on the Green 6/29/2019 4pm

The Tolland Cultural Council is sponsoring a Concert on the Green on June 29th at 4:00pm. The Neville Skeletones Band will be entertaining us for a couple of hours to welcome in summer. Bring your chairs or blankets. Bring your own happy hour in a basket. Come enjoy the music and the company.

Legendary New Orleans saxophonist Charles Neville met the Skeletones Band at the Montgomery Town Hall in November 2002.  During the next 17 years this group played hundreds of gigs in Massachusetts.

Although originally playing the regular Skeletones playlist, the band developed an independent repetoire with a Second Line New Orleans flair.  This included tunes written by New Orleans and Memphis musicians with whom Charles played  including Dave Bartholomew, Larry Williams,  BB King, Little Richard, The Meters and The Neville Brothers Band.  The band also showcases music from Charles's New York period with music from his NYC musical associates Oscar Pettiford and Herbie Hancock.

After Charles passed away in April 2018, the band decided to carry on this music with Charles's son Kalif on Keyboards.
