ORDER of BUSINESS:

Call to Order by Ruth at 9:05 AM

Attendance - Jean Armitage, Ruth Buchanan, Jennifer Clark, Mira Munson, Ann Skibiski, David Spidal        E. Patrick Storey

Review of Minutes –The minutes of April 9, 2019 were unanimously approved and signed.

Treasurers Report & Budget Update - Attached

Communications – Ruth received several COA News letters.

Upcoming Events

Black Fly Dinner May 18

Lunches; June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12

Yoga – Thursday classes start June 20; Monday classes start July 1. Alexi will be the instructor and will work as a 1099 employee of the town; she will give an insurance certificate to the town. We will do the signs before the black fly dinner.

Old Business

Transportation– 3 rides last month

Birthday Cards – 14 sent

Outreach Worker – Report attached

Black Fly – Set up will start at 4:40. Sal will be there. The kitchen staff will arrive at 5:45. All Purchasing assignments were reconfirmed. Paper goods were inventoried. 32 reservations to date. Ed was asked to set up the tables and light the stove.

New Business

Multi COA meeting in Otis – There was discussion of the dementia awareness programs and Ann gave a good presentation on her work as Tolland’s Outreach Worker. A proposal was made to have the five small towns in our area that don’t have Senior centers, Tolland, Sandisfield, Monterrey, Tyringham and Eggermont submit a grant application to request $6000 for each town to employ an outreach worker. We voted unanimously to bring this to the Selectmen and get their OK to participate in the grant. Dave will present this to the Selectmen. The next meeting will be Sept 9 in Monterrey.
