ORDER of BUSINESS:
Call to Order at 9:05 AM
Attendance - Ruth Buchanan, Jennifer Clark, Mira Munson, Pat Storey, Dave Spidal, Ann Skibski, Jean Armitage
Review of Minutes – The minutes of Dec. 11, 2018 were reviewed, unanimously approved and signed.
Outreach Worker report – Attached. Cynthia also submitted a letter of resignation dated Jan 5, effective Feb. 5, 2019.
Treasurers Report & Budget Update – Attached. It was noted that the Humason earmark was for $5,500, not the $5,000 we previously thought.
Upcoming Events
Ruth will try to arrange for Highland Valley Elder Services provide a speaker to discuss Medicare at our April Luncheon.
Old Business
Transportation – 2 rides in Dec
Birthday Cards – 19 sent in Jan
Special Grant - The Humason earmark was for $5,500, not the $5,000 we previously thought.
AC – The Council unanimously voted to increase our contribution for the air conditioning to $6,500. Pat will send a Letter to Selectmen advising them of this.
New Business
Lock Box Program – waiting on Pat
Shot Clinic – Ruth reported that Porch Light will not do a shingles shot clinic.
Tax Assistance is available at the Southwick and Westfield COAs. This information was included in the mailing.
The Villages in the Berkshires Pat discussed the Village concept that is being started in Berkshire County. We re trying to get a speaker on this concept to the Joint COA meeting in Otis on March 4.
Other – There will also be a speaker on Dementia Encounters at the March 4 meeting in Otis. There will be a brief discussion of a senior tax abatement program by working for the town. Dave will discuss with the Selectmen.
