Edward Patrick Storey Jr

December 11, 1944 ~ October 10, 2023 (age 78)

On October 10, 2023, Edward Patrick Storey Jr. passed from this life peacefully at home. The son of the late Edward and Rita Storey, Pat was born on December 11, 1944 in Orange, NJ and grew up in Morristown, NJ. He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 53 years Margaret Remson Storey, and their children Edward P Storey III and his wife Jessica Storey of New Hampton, NH; Michael P. Storey and his wife Jessica Eddy-Storey of Beverly, MA.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Jane Frances Storey. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Kathleen and Merle Sisler of Morris Plains, NJ; Christopher and Edie Storey of Boulder Creek, CA; Maureen and Richard Gartelmann of Long Valley, NJ; John Storey of Morristown, NJ; Peter Storey and Nancy March of Richmond, CA; Elizabeth and Frank Bono of Wind Gap, PA; Barbara Storey of Morristown, NJ; and many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by Sisters Jane Remson and Blaise Fernando of New Orleans, LA, who think of him more as a brother than a brother-in-law.

Pat attended Bayley - Ellard High School in Madison, NJ. He then enrolled in Newark College of Engineering (now NIT) and received a BS in Civil Engineering. He went to work in the construction department of Combustion Engineering / ABB / Alstom Power in Windsor, CT, and retired 43 years later after serving in many functions including as Director of Field Operations.

The family resided in Enfield, CT for over 30 years where Pat was active in civic affairs. He served on the Enfield Board of Education as both a member and Chairman; the Inland and Wetlands Commission; the Industrial Development Commission; and coached in the Enfield Youth Hockey Association.

After moving to Otis Reservoir in Tolland, MA he continued his civic involvement serving as the Tolland Town Moderator, Chairman of the Tolland Board of Appeals, Clerk of the Council on Aging, and a member of the Finance Committee. He also served as a board member and president of Driftwood Communities Association; a board member on the Otis Reservoir Property Owners Association; the treasurer of Our Community Food Pantry in Southwick; Treasurer of the Otis Fire Department, and a docent at the Museum of Springfield History.

He is remembered through and through as a good person who loved the simple things in life: good food, good wine, many friends. Pat only spoke positively of others. He is remembered as a man who didn’t take himself seriously, who looked upon the good in people. He was a kind and gentle man.

Pat looked forward to joining friends at the beach from 5 o’clock to 6 o’clock every day to trade camaraderie and banter.  He enjoyed the telling of stories and always had stories to tell (tall or otherwise). Monday mornings he would be at the public safety complex enjoying coffee, pastry and conversation. Wednesday mornings you would find him at Jim Fink’s house appreciating a cup of coffee, friends and neighborhood news.

Pat would hope to be remembered as a person who ran the good race; fought the good fight; meant what he said; said what he meant; he loved his family; loved his friends; he will see them again in that eternal next life.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, MA. Following the Mass, a celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the Knox Trail Inn in East Otis, MA, from noon to 3 PM.  Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 16th at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, MA, from 4 to 6 PM.  A private interment in New Orleans will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tolland Volunteer Fire Department in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home on 3 Main Street in Lee MA 01238

The family gives special appreciation to the fire departments of Tolland, Blandford and Otis for their quick response and professional care.
