MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING –   October 23, 2023 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:   Steven DellaGiustina, Patrick Barrett and Ed Deming

Also Present:   Jason Cohen, Maggie Zellner (Camp Timber Trails) Kate Donovan 

Jason and Maggie from Camp Timber Trails came to meet with the Selectmen on the closing of their 2023 season. The Select Board will schedule a meeting to discuss the process of paperwork for the 2024 season.

The Board of Selectmen voted to appoint Susan Cutillo to serve on the Council on Aging

The Board of Selectmen voted to appoint Carol DellaGiustina to serve on the Registrar of Voters. Steve DellaGiustina removed himself from the vote.

Kate presented options to purchase or lease a new transfer station compactor. Wastequip appears on the state bid with a purchase price of $25,000. Leasing with Casella was quoted at $350/month which includes repair and installation. With that the hauling fee would be $375 and a disposal fee of $132.50/ton.

Leasing with Roger’s a quote of $750/month with a hauling fee of $375 and a disposal fee of $130/ton.

Steve made a motion to schedule a STM to vote funds from Retained Earnings to purchase a new compactor from Wastequip. Seconded by Patrick, voted unanimously.

Board voted to increase the building department fess as presented.

The Board appointed Ed Deming to be the liaison for communications between the Board of Selectmen and Tolland Police Chief.

It is with heavy heart the Tolland Board of Selectmen would like to recognize the passing of E. Patrick Storey and give our condolences to the family. Patrick played a huge role with the Town of Tolland in being the towns Moderator, a member of the Council on Aging, Finance Committe and Grant Writer.
