The Granville-Tolland Citizens' Scholarship Foundation (GTCSF) is a non-profit, volunteer chapter of Dollars For Scholars. The GTCSF has been awarding annual scholarships to undergraduate students who are residents of Tolland or Granville since 1974. Scholarships are awarded based upon financial need and academic performance. Each student's scholarship may be renewed, year to year, providing the recipient reapplies by the May 1st deadline, meets all application criteria, and remains in good academic standing as a full-time undergraduate at an accredited college or university.
All monies raised in our annual fund drives (excluding a small portion to cover administrative costs) are given to support our local students. Recipients are selected fairly and anonymously regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, or disability.
The GTCSF was established June 4, 1974. Since its inception the Foundation has awarded over $200,000 in financial aid to deserving students from our two towns. The annual sum of financial aid awarded has increased from $4,355 a year to over $18,000 a year
As a chapter of Dollars For Scholars, the GTCSF is a member of a nationwide network of community-based, volunteer run citizens' scholarship foundations. Each foundation has the same mission - to raise funds in our local community to support local residents in pursuing a college education. If you would like more information about DFS, our umbrella organization, contact their New England Regional Office website at: http://www.dollarsforscholarsne.org.
The Foundation is composed of an Executive Board, a Scholarship Awards Committee, an Endowment Committee and several ad hoc committees. We currently have 15 active volunteer members and are always interested in welcoming new volunteer members. See our List of Executive Board Members, Committees & Volunteers for ways to contact us.
