7th Annual GTCSF Rock-A-Thon Fundraising Event
The Granville/Tolland Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation held its 7th Annual Rock-A-Thon on November 12th and 13th at the Tolland Town Hall. We had a total of 10 students from grades 5-12 participating. This year’s event drew fewer rockers this year due to moving our usual date up a week and some unexpected activities happening on that Saturday. However, the Rockers we had did a wonderful job in collecting pledges and joining in the fun of rocking the night away! The rockers arrived at 7:00 PM to spend the night rocking away (in rocking chairs and various other fun chairs). The night started with everyone enjoying a variety of delicious pizzas donated by the Tunxis Club of Tolland that Bob made, fabulous homemade ice cream from the Gran-val Scoop and other snacks and drinks donated by Prospect Mt. Campgrounds As the night progressed, there was music, games, movies and laughter. Breakfast was served before the Rockers left at 7AM. All of the pledge money was handed in by the due
date of December 1st with a total of $690 collected!
Madeline Falcetti was our top pledge collector, 2nd Ashlyn Stromgren and 3rd Josh Saulenas! The other participats this year were Heidi Bergen, Nathan Dargie, Ben Deming, Noah Ellinger, Michael Kupa and Eli Ritrosky. The GTCSF would like to thank these students for their time and effort for this fun scholarship fund raising event. The pledges raised were added to the GTCSF account for the scholarships to be given out in June 2011 to eligible Granville and Tolland college bound students!
The GTCSF would like to acknowledge and thank the following Sponsors for their contributions of food, supplies and prizes allowing us to hold the Rock-A-Thon this year: The Tolland Selectmen for the use of the Town Hall, The Tunxis Club, WalMart, Big Y, Geissler’s, the Gran-val Scoop, Blandford Ski Club, Prospect Mountain Campgrounds, and McDonald’s of Southwick.
Thank you to our neighbor’s friends and families who sponsored these dedicated students in rocking the night away, and to the parents who arrived promptly at 7:00 AM to pick up their rockers!
The Rock-A-Thon coordinators/chaperones were Deb Falcetti (GTCSF Treasurer), Cindy Saulenas (GTCSF volunteer) and Joanne Simeone (GTCSF Secretary).
