Paint and Paint Can Recycling
Locate sites where paint cans and paint can be recycled at no charge.
PaintCare sites accept house paint and primers, stains, sealers, and clear coatings (e.g., shellac and varnish), but they do not accept aerosols (spray cans), solvents, and products intended for industrial or non-architectural use. The products they accept are referred to as “Program Products” or “architectural paint,” and they must be in containers that are no larger than 5 gallons in size.
There are limited facilities in Massachusetts -- but numerous ones in Connecticut, including the two hardware stores in Granby CT and the Tru Value hardware store in Winsted.
Note: Some Hazardous Waste drops are available only to residents of the named towns.
