Finance Committee Meeting
Town of Tolland, MA
January 5, 2005
In Attendance : Ralph Ledger ,Chair and Ted Locke, Mira Munson, David Barney, and Margaret McClellan, all members
The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Mira Munson agreed to serve as Secretary.
A discussion of the 2005 – 2006 budget preparation began. All budget requests for 2005-2006 are due to the Committee by February 18, 2005.
The committee voted to recommend a 3% cost of living increase to the Selectmen to be budgeted for salaried employees in 2005 – 2006. Requests for any merit increases that would be in addition to the cost of living increase must be made by supervisors in their budget request.
The committee reviewed a few budgets submitted by Margaret McClellan. Margaret noted that :
· Number 12 County Retirement Assessment would increase from $18,745 to $26, 147 due to the early retirement of the past Road Supervisor. The increase would continue for 15 years.
· Number 25 the Audit – did not occur in 2004-2005, so she would recommend carrying the $7500 budgeted for 2004-2005 and not spent and adding $5000 for 2005-2006. The total of $12,500 would then be more in line with the cost that investigation in 2004 has revealed.
Ralph Ledger announced that Department Heads would be meeting January 10, 2005 and committee members were welcome to attend.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
