Procedure for Compliance with MASSACHUSETTS ELECTRICAL CODE
1. Complete Application for Permit to Perform Electrical Work.
2. Schedule required inspections.
A minimum of three (3) inspections will be made during the construction of building including
Temporary Service
Rough and Service
Finish
3. All Electrical Wiring must be performed by a Massachusetts Licensed Electrician.
4. No Certificate of Occupancy can be issued until the Final Inspection has been performed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the sole responsibility of the electrical contractor or the electricians to see that the Electrical Inspector is notified immediately at each stage requiring inspection and after the is completed and ready for Final Inspection
The electrical contractor or electrician must be present at the final inspection.
FEES
Permits are for one year duration and are renewable for $20.
New Dwelling or Complete Restoration of Old Building ( 3 inspections ) - $ 100
Modular Home ( 2 inspections ) - $ 70
Additional Inspections - $ 40

REQUEST FOR INSPECTION
Prompt attention will be paid based on timely notification of work being done and the Electrical Permit is in the inspector’s possession.

If any delay of fixtures or appliances is caused by shipping delays or other unforeseen reason, please contact the Electrical Inspector. Without this information a Certificate of Occupancy cannot be issued.
