About Us: The Tolland Fire Department is a volunteer group and a tax exempt 501 (c) 3 organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. TAX ID 04-6001324.
The Department is responsible for
l Fire protection service to the town, including putting out fires
l Emergency rescues, including cold water
l Emergency medical services through First Response and EMT services (coordinated with the Sandisfield Ambulance)
l Inspecting smoke detectors upon sale of a house
l Inspecting Fuel Oil burners and tanks when installed, removed, or modified in any way
l Monitor fuel tank installations and removals to assure conformance with environmental and safety laws
l Permitting and monitoring blasting sites
l Management of hazardous materials storage and spills
l Permitting storage and use of gun powder and pyrotechnics (including fire works)
